Harley-Davidson denies talks with Vance

Friday, August 11, 2000

The Harley-Davidson racing effort will remain as is for next season, according to Harley-Davidson press officer Paul James.
"Harley is in no way, shape or form negotiating with Terry Vance for road racing in 2001," said James. "We had talked to him for drag racing for next season and we did speak with him a couple of years back concerning road racing."

James went on to say that such a pairing might have problems because the VR1000 requires significant R&D work, rather than a race team that would field previously developed machinery.
