Mistake Costs Roberts Big

A crash with a ten bike lead on lap eight of today's HP4 600 Supersport race could potentially cost Kurtis Roberts the 600 Supersport title.
Roberts explained his crash moments ago: "I fell off," the son of King Kenny Roberts said. "I've ridden the bike on the edge all year, and unfortunately I messed up a little bit. I was pulling away a little bit per lap, trying to get the extra points, and I messed up a little bit. Luckily we had some teammates, and we got up to seventh. We know what we have to do, win the race, and the Eric has to finish second. Now it's a championship worth fighting for, and we'll have to make up for what happened today."

As the series goes into its final round at Willow Springs, Eric Bostrom, now with the points lead, can win the coveted AMA 600 Supersport title by winning the event.

Without his crash, and if he had taken the win, Roberts hypothetically would have had a five point cushion over Bostrom. He now trails by eight points.
