Oysters on Prom Night
by evan williams
Sunday, August 13, 2000

With thirty minutes to go, the Superbike squads are setting up for the Superbike race in pit lane. The weather is hotter than it's been all weekend. The crowd is much better than in previous years, with an estimate of over 10,000 fans present.
Are we set? I don't know," says Vance and Hines's Jim Leonard. "It is going to be a hot and greasy race."

The Harley pit is almost vacant. Their transporter is just the other side of the fence from their pit. The bikes are set up and ready to go, they are probably keeping cool.

Mat Mladin sits in his pit, drinking orange juice and smiling. Really. His teammate Aaron Yates talks things over with Vic Fasola.

The Kid and DuHamel are in their pit box. Their facial expressions looks similar to someone who has eaten some bad oysters on prom night.
