Polen released from hospital: news troubling
by dean adams
Thursday, August 24, 2000

Former world champion Doug Polen expected to be released from the Denton hospital today after spending several days there with an as yet undiagnosed illness.
Sources close to Polen say that the Doctors performed a cat scan on him to find out why "all of his internal organs (were) swollen" and during that 'scan discovered a "growth" in his pancreas. They were unable to tell him what it is or what caused it.

The swelling of his organs has subsided and Polen is leaving the hospital today, but will be conferring with specialists with regards to his pancreas in the coming days.
