Pegram
and CompAcc.com happy with Dunlop test
by evan williams
New bikes and a slippery track surface
made for three days of sliding for Competition Accessories.com's Larry
Pegram at Daytona. "It was slicker than this place has ever been, period,"
Pegram said.
"Everybody here was doing the same
thing: struggling for traction."
The Ohio squad concentrated more
on setting up their trick new 2001 Superbikes than setting quick times.
Pegram isn't too concerned about
being so behind the Suzuki team at this stage. "It looked like Mat had
a leg up on everybody, but they've been here three times in the past few
months, too. They started out with two tests under their belt before they
got here, and we started out, basically, out of a crate. Five days ago,
everything here was in two crates," Larry opined.
"These guys have done an awesome
job to get this stuff to where it is now. This test was basically too early
for us, we weren't ready."
Unfortunately, Ducati's Atlanta test
that would have given the team more track time was snowed out.
The CompAcc Ducatis were tested at
Daytona with all-black Carbon fiber bodywork. "Ducati sent us some awesome
bikes, and the Competition Accessories guys did a great job here," said
Pegram, winner of the 1999 Willow Springs Superbike National. "Now we just
need to move forward."
