Future of TL1000R Program?

There is much conjecture as to what the future holds for the Yoshimura Suzuki TL1000R Superbike program. Some insiders predict that it will not continue in the 1999 season while we have been getting Email from Yoshimura's sales force stating that the project is a go for 1999 and any talk that it may go away is incorrect.

I asked a Suzuki racing manger this past weekend this question: Will the TL Superbike program continue next year?

His answer: I don't know.

I asked a Suzuki PR manager the same question and was told, "We have no official comment." I asked if the GSX-R750 program is a go for next year and was told unequivocally that it was.

Neither Steve Crevier nor Worm Pegram have contracts with Suzuki for next season, at this time.

Rumors are running rampant that Honda is on the verge of re-signing Crevier to a Supersport only deal for 1999, contingent on the fact that he wins the 600 Supersport championship.

All Crevier was talking about at Colorado was his wife Christy, who was at home in Canada giving birth to the couple's second child. When Crev left the track she had not given birth as yet. If we hear the outcome on any of this, you'll read it here first. --Dean Adams
