This Troy Corser update comes from WSC publicist Julian Thomas, Troy's PR guy. It is dated the eighth, today.CORSER ON HIS WAY TO RECOVERY
Team ADVF Ducati rider Troy Corser is recovering rapidly from injuries
suffered in a crash at Sugo Race Circuit in Japan on Sunday 4th October
that wiped out any hopes the Australian had of taking his second World
Superbike title.26 year-old Corser, who fractured three ribs during the morning warm-up
incident, was unable to take part in the final two races of the 1998
championship. Circuit doctors immediately diagnosed the fractures but his
condition deteriorated at around the time of the first race (midday) and it
was decided to take him to Sendai Hospital for checks.Further scans there showed that the Australian had suffered a traumatic
rupture of the spleen accompanied by intraperitoneal bleeding, as well as
bruising on his left shoulder. On Sunday evening, he underwent a non-surgical procedure performed by a
radiologist to stop and prevent further bleeding. His current status on
Thursday 8th October is stable and improving. If there is no further
bleeding, surgery to remove the spleen will not be required.Troy Corser will be moved from intensive care either today or tomorrow and
then will probably fly back to Australia for further convalescence, after
7-10 more days in Sendai hospital to ensure his condition is stable._________________________________________
