Lee Stillman: Super-Enthusiast

I poked a little bit of fun at Lee Stillman last week about that helmet collection he has (I'm jealous!) and the fact that his shoulder seems to be in about half of my podium shots. Could that be because I'm short?
I guess some people felt that my comments were mean spirited when they actually weren't meant to be taken that way. Stillman has been a regular on the AMA scene for years and he and I have traded jibes in the past, this was just more of the same.

Stillman, along with the guy from Arizona who travels to all the races by car with his ten year old son, is just an incredible enthusiast. He rides that BMW--it's his only transportation-- to nearly all of the races, Daytona, Loudon, Elkhart, he's there. No big deal until you realize that he lives in Santa Cruz. The guy crosses the country more than some truckers.

In addition he works at the track, taking informal photos of the riders, for the riders. He has agreements with many of them to take vanity shots during the race weekend. If you hang out with Mat Mladin, Tom Kipp, Miguel or Kurtis Roberts you'll see Stillman shots hanging from the refrigerators in their house.
