Qualifying for Sunday's Pro Honda Oils 600 Supersport race was a case of good news and bad news for Yoshimura Blimpie Suzuki rider Jamie Hacking.

The good news was that his best time of 1:41.188 was good enough for pole position and another championship point. The bad news was that Hacking crashed shortly after setting the quick time.

Hacking's tumble happened two laps after a quick pit stop to consult with his team. "The rear tire on the first session when I went out there wasn't all that good. So I came in and told 'em to put another one on there. They said, 'no, you're going really good.' I said I'll go back out there and be careful, but I ended up making a mistake."

Hacking's mistake happened in the first left-hand infield turn at Brainerd International Raceway. "I just got off into Turn 4 there, just got a little bit too much rear brake. The thing stepped out sideways on me. I saved it. There's a really bad bump going into Turn 4 there. When the thing came back on me it loaded the front pretty good. I hit that bump and it just tucked the front. That's about it."

Hacking was unhurt in the fall, though the body work on the bike was scraped off. "Hopefully the bike's not too bad. I looked it over and it doesn't look like it took that bad of a hit. Just on the bodywork. It didn't take an impact on the frame."

The crash leaves Hacking concerned about the Sunday morning final: will the good bike be ready, or will Hacking have to ride the the back-up bike? "My main concern is just getting my bike back together. We've been having issues about certain chassis. I've been kind of particular about getting my chassis right so they handle good for me. That's my biggest concern. Hopefully the thing's not damaged enough that we have to ride another chassis, because they're kind of inconsistent right now."
