Notes: Always interesting to have a look back at Brainerd trap speeds. With a mile long front straight BIR always boasts of some failrly impressive top gear numbers.
Here's some from 1999, when the most recent dose of serious horsepower hit the paddock:
Ben Bostrom, Ducati 184mph; Scott Russell, Harley-Davidson 179mph; Doug Chandler, Kawasaki 181mph Steve Crevier,181mph; Aaron Yates, Kawasaki 179mph; Pascal Picotte, Harley-Davidson 174mph; Matt Wait, Ducati 185mph; Eric Bostrom,Honda 184mph; Jason Pridmore, Suzuki 181mph; Mat Mladin, Suzuki 183mph; Larry Pegram, Ducati 184mph; Steve Rapp, Suzuki 181mph; Jamie Hacking, Yamaha 179mph; Anthony Gobert, 184mph; Nick Hayden, Honda 181mph; Rich Oliver, Yamaha, 180mph.
I'd have to really dig through the archives to find the data, but I seem to recall that the top speed numbers at Brainerd for the first Superbike race at that venue (in 1983) were in the low 160 mph range for Rainey's Kawasaki GPz750.
