Nicky Hayden won his seventh race of the season.

Blimpie Suzuki's Aaron Yates and Mat Mladin both retired. Yates had chosen a softer tire than most of the factory riders.

It was the first podium for HMC Ducati and the first podium for Doug Chandler since PPIR, '00.
