Troy Bayliss, Ducati Infostrada -- "That was a very special lap I must say," said Bayliss after Superpole. "That is the fastest that I've ever been around here, including the times that we did a couple of years ago when the chicanes were slightly different and a lot faster. Just as I was walking out of my pit garage to the bike I saw that everyone was cheering that Ben (Bostrom) had done a good time, so I knew that I had to pull something special out and I did. The whole package is working extremely well at the moment, the bike, the tires, the team, everything. I couldn't be happier." Bayliss added. "As for tomorrow, I know that Colin (Edwards) will be strong as usual, but I'm not sure about the others at the moment. It is forecast to be a lot hotter tomorrow, so 25 laps around here will be extremely difficult both for the riders and the tires."
Ben Bostrom, L&M Ducati -- "I wasn't sure if my lap was pole or not but I was pretty sure it was at least second. Then I saw Troy's lap, he was on an amazing flyer and my heart fell half way through. That was all I could do this afternoon, I tried really hard but he ran a really great lap. Tomorrow we're going to give it 110% every lap, that's all we can do. The circuit goes left which is what I like, I'm not really fond of the last part but the corner from first to fifth as you come onto the back straight is probably one of the best corners in the world. I'm pretty excited about tomorrow's races and the fans are great here as
well."
Colin Edwards II, Castrol Honda -- "I knew Troy would go for it once he'd seen the other times flash up on the monitor. I've just gone faster than I ever have around this place so I'm happy enough with a front row place. We've got a good set-up for tomorrow's races and Michelin have come up with the goods so I'm in confident mood. It's difficult knowing that Troy's always around but I've got to start beating him.
I think tomorrow's races will be all about fitness and the tires lasting the 25 laps. It's going to be a war of attrition and I aim to be in there, battling with whomever to try and win these races."
Nori Haga, Playstation Aprilia -- "I didn't feel set-up and tires were all that right: I tried out all sorts of solutions but in the end we rather lost track. The intense heat is making the tarmac very slippery and I haven't got the grip I'd like to have. Still, the race is quite long enough, so we'll see what happens."
Frankie Chili, Scuderia NCR -- "I don't know really what to think, I was sure to get a good result, maybe 1'35" because I've ridden well, without mistakes, so when I've seen my result on the screen I've been really surprised and disappointed! That also because this morning I scored my lap time, as Hodgson was before me, easily and I was just 0.382 seconds behind Bayliss. The only cause could be the engine a bit tired, but we have preferred to continue with the same engine for free practices and Superpole session because the hot conditions, sparing a new engine for tomorrow's race. Another unknown problem will be the race tires, with those temperature conditions it would be difficult the right choice."
Ruben Xaus, Ducati Infostrada -- "In the last couple of races I've been riding faster than in Superpole so that gives me great hopes for the races tomorrow. I rode pretty good with the race tire today and I hope to do well tomorrow because I need the points. These two races here are the hardest for me because of the hot conditions and my style of riding but my team did a great job, the tires are working well and I'll give it my best shot."
Chris Walker, Fuchs Kawasaki -- "We've been making improvements to the bike all day, and I was pleased with the package we ended up with for Superpole,' said Walker. 'I'm also pretty happy that I managed to match my previous best time from regular qualifying on my Superpole lap; that's a first for me this season and a real confidence boost. We already know what tires we're going to run tomorrow, so it's all down to me now. Obviously I'd have preferred it if I was starting from a bit higher up the grid than the third row, but a good start tomorrow should allow me to make up quite a few places in the run down to the first corner."
Hito Izutsu, Fuchs Kawasaki -- "My wrist was quite painful during this morning's qualifying session, despite the pain killing injections," said Izutsu. "Rather than make the injury worse, I decided to sit out this afternoon's practice and give the wrist chance to recover. I'm booked in for a massage and a check up with Doctor Costa's staff this evening, and that should go some way to preparing my wrist for the two races tomorrow."
Broc Parkes NCR Ducati -- "I'm confused, very confused. Last weekend the machine was good and now is badly sliding and we didn't find a good setting. It seems that all the troubles are coming together! Qualifying tires were good, very good, maybe race tires could have some problem at the end if the hot conditions will go on."
