There have been rumors for some time that AMA Pro Racing's Roadrace Operations Manager, Gary Mathers, is resigning his post with AMA Pro. These rumors have stepped up a full level this week, saying that next week's Fontana event will be his last.

Reached this afternoon at his North Carolina home, Mathers, a former American Honda and Kawasaki racing manager, stated when asked if the rumors of him resiging were true, "No comment."

Mathers did say that he intends to be on the job at California Speedway next week.
