When Blimpie Suzuki's Mat Mladin could not race on Sunday due to injury, Mladin's crew -- including crewchief Peter Doyle, computer man Ammarr Bazzaz and Reg O'Rourke -- switched over to Yosh rider Jamie Hacking for the day. At the end of the 200, Hacking was in second place after a late race charge and pass Yamaha's Anthony Gobert.
So did the late addition to Hacking's Superbike program benefit him?
"Mat's crewchief sat me down at the beginning of this morning and told me what he wanted me to do and what lap times he wanted me to run," Hacking said after the podium press conference on Sunday. "Those guys are champions. I just sat there and listened to what they had to tell me. Those guys are not going to lead me wrong. It was very comfortable having those guys work with me."
Jamie plans to use the strong start as a springboard to his best season yet on a Superbike. "I think this is gonna be my year. I am a lot calmer and a lot more focused on what I'm doing. Definitely, it's going to be a lot more consistent."
