HMC Ducati owner Mitch Hansen said he wishes to take "the high road" during the fallout one day after the team released rider Pascal Picotte. Hansen declined to discuss specifics Picotte raised in an interview with AMASuperbike.com.
"A guy can have all the talent in the world, but if it's not happening with the team, it's hard to find success," said Hansen. "I had to do what I felt was best to help us win."
"It had nothing to do with his ability," Hansen added. "I still have the utmost respect with Pascal's skill as a rider."
The business of racing goes on, however, and the team must come to terms with Picotte's replacement before Fontana. Hansen confirmed that there is currently no replacement rider in place for HMC.
