Colin Edwards II, Castrol Honda
(Edwards won both races today and now leads WSC points with one round remaining)
"I wanted to win both races today like I've never wanted wins," admitted Edwards. "We didn't have the best two days of qualifying we've ever had, but it all came together sweet in the races.

"When I got the signal to say Troy (Bayliss) was out I just got my head down and concentrated on the checkered flag. Troy's been riding really well this year, but at the moment I think I'm riding that little bit better.

"I suppose you could never have predicted what's happened today, but it's made for a great finale' at Imola in three weeks and I can't wait, I wish it was tomorrow."

Chris Walker, Kawasaki
(Walker crashed in the AM warm-up and injured his foot/ankle. Teammate Hitoyasu Izutsu decided not to waste the fuel today.)

'I was gutted,' said Walker. 'The foot wasn't bothering me as much as I'd feared it would, and I reckon I'd have been on for a top six finish if I hadn't had to stop.'

A flying start from the third row of the grid saw Walker up with the leading group of riders in race two. After a race long battle with, first Ben Bostrom, and then Noriyuki Haga, the 30-year-old British rider eventually crossed the line in seventh place to, once again, finish as the top four-cylinder rider.

"We've not had the best of weekends, but race two definitely went some way to making up for the problems we've had,' said Walker. 'My foot is really sore, but I still managed to lap half a second quicker today than I managed during qualifying, so a big thank you to the team who, as always, have worked exceptionally hard this weekend. At one point during the race, I thought I might have been able to hold off Haga and Bostrom for fifth, but they were making up so much ground on me out of the hairpin and onto the back straight, it was inevitable that they'd squeeze through eventually."

Peter Goddard, Benelli
"We used the weekend to try out some new settings, and I also tried a different construction rear tire. It seems to have worked because we got 12th in race one and then 11th in race two. What's more I did my fastest lap of the weekend on the final lap of the second race."

Troy Bayliss, Ducati Corse
"In race one, the first few laps were worse than the last few because I was a bit unsettled and couldn't get into a rhythm. I was much happier at the end and enjoyed myself in the final few laps. I had a few problems getting past Ruben, Nori and Neil early on, and made a few little mistakes in the later stage, but I'm pretty happy with the result. Right at the end I hit the brakes hard and my bike got into a bit of a shake and I ran out wide onto the marbles."

"I had exactly the same high side crash as yesterday, only smaller" added Troy after race two. "I was catching Chili and I was going to have him, but the rear of the bike just went away from me. The whole weekend we've been struggling and the bike just hasn't felt the same. Now I've got to go out and do it all at Imola. I'm pretty mad with myself for the crash, but what can you do? I have to admit I'd rather be in front of Colin at this point though."

Nori Haga, Aprilia (Note Haga drilled Hodgson in race two, sending them both off-track) "We did really well here in Holland, and I'm just a bit sorry as I could have come second in Race two: Hodgson slowed down in an unusual way when shutting down the throttle at the end of the home straight. You come into that part really fast and I just had no room for maneuver to avoid impact. Towards the end, I tried to work my way up through the field but by then my rear tire had had it."

Ruben Xaus, Ducati Corse (Note: Xaus' shifter failed in race two and then he was black flagged for having repairs made in the garage)
"Fourth place is OK, the bike was running quite good, but when Troy was behind me I had no options to win, so one position here or there would have made no difference. In the second race I started quite well but the pedal on the gearshift broke and there was nothing I could do but come into the pits".

Ben Bostrom, L&M Ducati
(Note: Bostrom was actually beaten in race one by lowly Gregorio Lavilla on the WP-shod Suzuki. At Assen.)
"The first race was a struggle but while I was out there I was thinking of how to make improvements for race two. I was riding on the limit and nearly crashed three times so I don't want that to happen again. In the second race things were not much better. In the early laps I couldn't even pass Walker or flick the bike in the corner without it spinning away from me. Then, when Haga passed me on lap 13, I followed him for a bit to set him up for the final lap and then eventually got him on the sweeping left-hander."

Frankie Chili, NCR Ducati
(Note: Chili stripped for the crowd and came to the podium after race two wearing not much clothing, and a big toothpaste-commercial smile. A team member had to supply a shirt for podium photos)
"Finally the result I was waiting from long time. I'm a bit tired because the bike is still hard to manage and I'm sure that if I'll be able to set the 998 NCR Ducati Axo as I like, we'll have more days like today. Edwards and his Honda was unbeatable today, but I realized that I could challenge with the others and I never stop to be confident in a great result. The team has done a magnificent work, as they are doing from the beginning of the season and the bike pushed very fast. I hope to repeat in Imola, in front of my public, a good result like today to finish at the best the season."
