Time Running Out For Hayden
needs a mile win to cement immortality
by dean adams
Thursday, September 26, 2002

Nick Hayden has already accomplished infinetly more on the dirt tracks than many roadracers that came before him. Riders who actually were damn good dirt-trackers but never accomplished Grand Slam status include Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey, Jimmy 'Jimbo' Filice, Freddie Spencer and yes, even Kevin Schwantz (who was a great dirt tracker, just as long as all the races were held at the Houston Astrodome).

Time may be running out for Hayden, who needs a Mile win to join Dick Mann, Doug Chandler, Bubba Shobert and Kenny Roberts in the Grand Slam club.

He races the Du Quoin Mile this weekend in IL.
