Quotes from the SuperPole Press Conference at Imola this afternoon.
Troy Bayliss, Ducati Corse:
(explains that he does not speak Italian)
(Asked if he feels the races will be tough ones this weekend if he has a plan)
I plan on kicking back, taking it easy. (laughs) No, I'm going to do everything I can. The season's kind of been turned around and now I'm chasing Colin, like he was me two months ago. I'm going to try and change it. I think whoever has the best day tomorrow will be the champion.
(asked if he can hear the fans screaming for him while he is on track)
Sure. I love racing in Italy and love the support I get here. In the past, this year, I've won all the races in Italy so I want to have a good one again. Especially with this being so close to the Ducati factory. I don't know what to say; I'm going to do everything humanly possible to win.
Ruben Xaus, Ducati Corse:
(told a fan has been sighted wearing a Barcelona football shirt with Xaus' name on it. Will he wear a Barcelona shirt if he wins tomorrow?)
For sure. (Xaus spoke most of press conference in Italian and Spanish.
Colin Edwards, Castrol Honda:
It looked like in the second split that you lost something but got it back in the third split.
Edwards: I did. The tire had a little bit of a shine on it and it came around on me in the first split. It takes a little while to get going on them and in the very first right hand corner it came around on me so obviously that kind of screws your head up. So it took me a little bit to get my confidence back because I knew I screwed the first part of the lap up. I just decided to put my head down and see what I could do.
What will you do to relax after this?
First I'm going to go watch the sidecar race because those things are pretty exciting (joke) and after that I have a few things to do and then I'm going to go watch the Rider Cup, get my mind off things.
We qualified yesterday on a race tire, and when we came here at the test we did a 1:47.8 but we told everybody that we did a 1:48.1 just so no one would have a number to shoot for.
Tomorrow, when it comes down to it, we know what we have to do. I feel confident and feel good. The bike is working well.
