'03 MGP Season Kicks Off Soon
by dean adams
Tuesday, March 25, 2003

The grid is full; the stands will be packed. The 2003 GP season (MotoGP) starts in Suzuka Japan on April 6. The race will feature (for the first time in a while) arguably the best riders this planet has to offer, including Colin Edwards II, Nick Hayden, Val Rossi, Max Biaggi and Loris Capirossi.

Last minute testing and prep-work will continue. Ducati will test at Suzuka (Troy Bayliss has never seen the Honda-owned track)on the 30-31 of this month. Roberts Proton, after years of trying to slay giants with a sling, just unveiled their own V5 today (it won't be raced until later in the season) while other teams are scurrying, buttoning up last minute details.

Can Americans Colin and Nick run with the best on the MGP grid? Is the Ducati a contender out of the box? Yamaha gambled on Melandri for their young gun, was it a wise move? Can Biaggi match Rossi if he has a V5?

All questions that will be answered, at least initially, very soon.
