Fontana Superbike Races Will Be Tape-Delayed
by dean adams
Thursday, March 25, 2004

Let me just say this: I come from an era when none of the races were shown on television. Ever. I also come from the next era, when the races were shot with three cameras and then telecast—with Brock Yates as co-host/commentator no less—six whole weeks after the fact.

Thus, the following news isn't that distressing. To me.

Speed sources confirmed today that the Fontana Superbike races will be shown tape-delayed next weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday's races (Fontana is a double-header)will run Sunday afternoon; Sunday's race will be telecast an hour after completion.

What happened to the "all races live" part of the Superbike series is unknown. It is known this is the final year of the Speed/AMA contract.

Update: Speed's schedule now lists the 600 Supersport race as airing on Tuesday at 11:00AM PST. Don't forget to set your VCR, Beta-max or TiVo.
