It's been rumored for more than a week that Laguna Seca has some interest in holding a second AMA event (the first will run in conjunction with the MotoGP race in July) this season. With both VIR and BIR highly doubtful at this point, any additional rounds would help the series.

Laguna Seca Raceway GM Gill Campbell said this morning that the second AMA round is under consideration but not confirmed. "Nothing has been determined on that," she said. "We're looking at it, but we won't be able to make any decisions until my executive meeting on January 20. We've got to look at all of the options."

Laguna Seca probably won't be holding a CART/Champ car race next year, which would leave a race weekend open for the famed Northern California facility.
