40 Racing Maniacs Enjoy A Winter Ride @ Colin's Place
rare january seat time

Winter -- the time of year every motorcyclists hates. The cold weather usually means bikes in most parts of the country sit in the garage, quietly gathering a few specs of rust (if you're not too careful) and waiting for the calendar to roll. It only makes it worse hearing about racing tests in places like Malaysia, Spain, and Daytona.

But there are usually a few days when it's warm enough for a rider motivated by withdrawals to put on his gear and get some riding in.

Racers are no different and the conditions were just good enough for that rare winter ride outside of Houston. On Sunday at former World Superbike champion and MotoGP star Colin Edwards' s place in Texas, Suzuki's Ben Spies, privateer hotshot John Haner, and "about 40 other guys" consisting on mostly CMRA club racers gathered together to use and abuse their collection of 125s and 50s on Colin's TT track.

A good time was had by all.
