1. Eric Bostrom, Ducati Austin. Eric went 3-1 at Mid-Ohio, winning Sunday's race after taking a podium finish on Saturday. Bostrom has won three of the last six races and has jumped to a clear third in the Superbike championship.
2. Roger Lee Hayden, Kawasaki Ol' Rog looked like he had received a lump of coal from Santa Claus on Christmas morning after losing on the last lap to Jason DiSalvo at Laguna Seca in Supersport. At Mid-Ohio, he responded by winning his second race of the year in the class, running a precise race to take the much needed victory.
3. Tommy Hayden, Kawasaki Hayden didn't have to run hard in Ohio to keep up his championship defense in Supersport. After all, he had a 41-point lead with three races to go despite falling at Laguna Seca and breaking his hand. He could have even sat out, kept the lead while he recovered, then fought hard at the last two races after he healed somewhat. But he did race hard despite the pain, finishing a close second with the injury.
4. Mat Mladin, Suzuki Mladin won pole, the race on Saturday and was making a charge through the field on Sunday when Yates crashed in front of him. Mladin did manage to pass enough guys to take 30th and get a point, but the net result of the weekend was that he lost points to Ben Spies in the title hunt. He now leads by only nine with four races to go.
5. Fellows making a case for a better ride in '06 Ben Attard earned his first Supersport podium at Mid-Ohio on his Attack Kawasaki. John Haner led two laps of the Superstock race on his Lion Racing Suzuki despite needing surgery for his torn rotator cuff since Pikes Peak. Kneedraggers' Robert Jensen ran a strong in practice, qualifying and the races at Mid-Ohio.
6. Miguel DuHamel, Honda Miguel was jubilant to earn Honda's best Superbike finish of 2005 with a second place on Sunday.
7. Support class victors, but Superbike vanquished Aaron Yates and Jake Zemke won two huge races this weekend, giving themselves the advantage in Superstock and Formula Xtreme, respectively, with only two races left. So why were they not happy after Mid-O? Yates crashed twice in Superbike in the same turn (once in front of Mladin, no less, and both ended up on the ground). Zemke saw two solid early runs in the premier class end the same way both dayswith bike problems that forced him to retire.
