Mladin is going for AMA Championship number six
1. Mat Mladin, Suzuki -- Mladin won on Sunday and gained points on second place Ben Spies in the points. There's only one rider within a race's max points (37) of Mat, giving him an all-important safety margin as he goes for a sixth AMA Superbike championship. He also had huge margins in practice and qualifying at Elkhart, but more importantly only lost 5 points out of the weekend maximum -- even though he said there was a problem with his bike all weekend.

2. Neil Hodgson, Ducati -- Neil won his first race in America in Saturday's rain race by going out and hauling ass in the deluge. Hodgson has earned his bones in the US as the top man not on a Suzuki in the first half of the year. 2 DNFs have pretty much ended Hodgson's run for the championship but he's still the flavor of the silly season.

3. Tommy Hayden, Kawasaki -- Hayden maxed out in Supersport points, expanding his lead in the important 600cc class. Hayden now has a huge 56 point lead over Jamie Hacking and 58 over Roger Hayden with four races to go.

4. Jake Zemke, Honda -- Zemke earned the first Honda podium of the year in Superbike for 2005 at Elkhart during the dry race and showed more competitiveness than the Honda boys have been able to show this yea with a new spec motor. Let's see what happens at twisty courses like Laguna and Mid-Ohio that are up next on the menu.

5. Miguel DuHamel, Honda -- DuHamel stopped the bleeding in FX and ended Zemke's four-in-a-row streak.

6. Aaron Yates, Suzuki -- Yates had a terrible weekend in Superbike with a crash on Saturday and bike problems on Sunday but he won in Superstock after running down the Pirelli boys. Since 'Stock is his class of emphasis, the world is good.

7. Geoff May/Mike Barnes M4 EMGO Suzuki -- May and Barnes ran strong in Superstock, both leading the race. Barnes also led FX and finished on the podium in his second race subbing for Vincent Haskovec.
