If you worked in the World Superbike paddock anytime since its beginning in the late 1980s then there is a strong chance that you knew Spanish journalist Ernest Ribe.

Ribe was the longtime racing editor for the Spanish magazine Solo Moto and worked in World Superbike for years. His rickety wheelchair was a near constant fixture in the pressroom. Sadly, Ribe died of cancer just before the first World Superbike race this year.

Ribe was a kind and thoughtful man and his work epitomized that of writer who understood racing. The World Superbike paddock will be having a memorial service for Ribe this weekend, at the scene of his "home" race.
