Still the master
1. Mat Mladin, Suzuki -- Mat maxed out the Superbike points at Daytona, dropping a second from last year's pole time, then winning the race with a post-chicane "no, you first" move to beat Ben Spies at the line.

2. Jake Zemke, Honda -- Zemke won the Daytona 200, forever etching his name in the history books. Perhaps as importantly, he exorcized his FX demons from last year's Road Atlanta title bout that saw him lose the crown to Miguel DuHamel. His work, as they say, is done in the class. Now he'll concentrate on Superbike.

3. Jamie Hacking, Yamaha -- Hacking's weekend was big on several levels. He won the Superstock race, sucking the stickers off teammate Jason DiSalvo's R1 at the line to take victory. In 'Sport, he collected second place points.

4. Kawasaki -- After Roger Hayden's Supersport win, the focus of the team fell on their first Superbike race since joining the class. In the race, the Green Machine dueled with the factory Hondas and Ducatis. Tommy was fifth and Roger ended up crashing, but the bottom line is Kawasaki looks to be as competitive as Ducati and Honda right out of the box.

5. Josh Hayes and Erion Racing -- Josh Hayes spent the last few years doing impressive things on bikes that far too often were about to blow up. Erion Racing has had a few down years as Honda's number one support team. Second place in the Daytona 200 should show it would be hasty to anoint Yamaha as the team to beat in FX at this point.

6. Ben Spies, Suzuki -- Sure, Spies got passed on the banking during the last lap of the Superbike race and didn't win. But the point is he was able to run with Mladin for 15 laps. It bodes well for his 2006 Superbike season.

7. Kenny Roberts -- The American's Team KR was nearly out of business after last year's engine supplier debacle. Then Honda came calling, as he explained to the press at Daytona. Now he's hooked up with a promising project that can benefit both parties. And the bike looks sharp, too.
