Mladin Tops Mid-Ohio Super Seven
1. Mat Mladin, Suzuki -- Mladin won both AMA Superbike races at Mid-Ohio, putting in two classic races. In the first, he was six seconds down to Spies before a red flag, then came back in the second leg to turn 1 minute, 23 second laps at Mid-Ohio -- faster than anyone has gone before, even if qualifying. It was enough to propel him to his 58th career victory.

The Sunday race was another classic. He ran down a very fast Ben Spies and passed him with a tight inside move in the Carousel, a move many weren't expecting but the only place on the track where Spies was lacking.

Mladin stayed alive in the championship at Mid-Ohio, taking two wins at one of Spies' best tracks.

2. Josh Hayes, Erion Honda -- Hayes got back to his winning ways in Ohio, winning the Formula Xtreme race. Hayes won going away to take his fifth win out of seven races. He now leads by 50 points with just three races to go.

It was especially important since his deflating Laguna Seca Supersport crash. If there was a downside to his weekend, he didn't get a shot to make up points in Supersport.

3. Jamie Hacking, Kawasaki -- Hacking and Kawasaki have found speed over the course of the 2007 season and have positioned themselves to be the quickest non-Spies/Mladin runners, fighting for the podium ever since Elkhart. Things haven't always played out as they'd like in that span, and Hacking did crash in the first race at Mid-Ohio. But Jamie was fast in practice and qualifying and third in the second race.

Now they go back to VIR, where the season really turned around for the team with a testing breakthrough earlier this year. The goal now has to be to finish well and carry that momentum into the off-season. Hacking is signed up for next year with the green team as well.

4. Chaz Davies, Celtic Racing -- Davies took another podium finish in FX for Celtic Yamaha, earning third. It's two podiums in a row for the Brit, who remains in-line for a possible factory or factory-supported ride in 2008.

Davies also earned pole In Supersport.

5. Miguel Duhamel, Honda -- Miguel got Aaron Yates back for coming out on top of their Laguna Seca duel, taking third place in a spirited three rider battle.

It's been another down year for Honda in many ways, but Miguel's earned the Superbike box six times this year. Hopefully, he will recover quickly from his Road Atlanta testing injuries.

6. Ben Attard, Attack Kawasaki -- Attard has had a solid year in FX for his team, earning a podium at Daytona and now taking second place at Mid-Ohio.

7. Mid-Ohio Fans -- The fans that trek to Mid-Ohio have always been loyal, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and numerous. They have continued to support the race, even though the facility can't hold rain races because of safety issues and it seems to rain every year. A large number of them stayed all through the rain and the hours that followed on Sunday, even though it looked very doubtful any racing would happen.

The sentiment in the paddock is these fans deserve a track that can hold races in the rain. Fix the track and these moto-crazy folks will stick around, no matter the conditions. The riders appreciate their enthusiasm and want to put on a good show for them.

The Super Seven is our very unscientific and totally subjective list of the top seven people, or groups of people, who stood out at the most recent race meeting.
