Yamaha's Jason DiSalvo recently had the stitches removed from his arm and will return to Superbike testing soon. The wound was the result of his monster crash at Daytona at the recent Dunlop test. DiSalvo had twenty to thirty inner and outer stitches installed in his arm to repair the damage.
"I'm still taking it easy," DiSalvo said this afternoon. "I was going to start riding today, but I'm going to let it heal for a few more days. I have split it open in my sleep a few times and I'm just going to let it heal before I really start riding hard."
DiSalvo will be traveling to his home in Las Vegas tomorrow after spending his convalescence period on the East Coast. He has been doing light workouts in the gym, mostly bicycle work.
DiSalvo said he will be able to ride at upcoming tests for Yamaha and he'll be on the much improved 2008 Yamaha Italia machines. "We will have new bikes for the tests," DiSalvo said. "There was some question as to whether we would have them or not. The bike I crashed was the only one, you know."
"They did get the data off the bike that I crashed," DiSalvo said excitedly. "Nobody on the team thought they would be able to because of how badly everything was melted, but in the end they were able to get the data. I'm excited to see what it says, like how fast I was going and stuff."
DiSalvo will be a guest on an upcoming Soupkast by Honda.
