Stoner dominated Laguna Seca
1. Casey Stoner, Marlboro Ducati -- Stoner simply rocked at Laguna Seca, leading every session and then dominating the race. Stoner was as impressive as possible in California and extended his World Championship points lead.

For trivia buffs, Stoner joins Luca Cadalora as the only non-Americans to win in the premier class at the Laguna Seca USGP.

2. Marco Melandri, Gresini Honda: Melandri had a hero ride, making the podium despite a dislocated ankle from a scary crash in qualifying that saw him tumbling wildly in the Laguna Seca sand trap.

After the race, Melandri got the dream ride for an Italian -- the Ducati factory team.

3. Ben Spies, Suzuki -- Spies won the pole and the AMA Superbike race, extending his points lead.

Spies now leads by 24 points with just four events to go. It's becoming more and more likely that Spies will retain his Superbike champion title.

4. Roger Hayden, Kawasaki -- Hayden won the Supersport race in a hot battle with Josh Herrin. The win put him in the lead in the AMA Supersport standings.

Hayden also performed well in his MotoGP ride, taking a top ten and was the first American to cross the line.

5. Chris Vermeulen, Suzuki -- Vermeulen took second in the MotoGP race and re-signed with Suzuki. He had the field covered in Monterey, save for Stoner.

Vermeulen has always gone well at Laguna, doubling in World Superbike and leading the MotoGP race last year before a fuel problem caused him to slow.

6. Aaron Yates, Jordan Suzuki -- Yates earned Michael Jordan's first AMA Superbike podium, holding off Miguel Duhamel and Neil Hodgson in a good battle for position.

7. Chaz Davies, Celtic Racing/Pramac Ducati -- Davies got drafted into MotoGP duty when Alex Hofmann was injured on Friday. Despite never having ridden anything larger than a 600, never using Bridgestones, traction control, or having ridden at Laguna Seca, Davies turned in some decent times in the MotoGP race. That's what you call "being thrown in the deep end."

It's the type of thing that won't be forgotten by the guys that sign riders.

Honorable mention: Josh Herrin of Graves Yamaha rode a great race in Supersport, nearly earning his first AMA win in a classic fight with Roger Hayden. Corona Honda's Neil Hodgson rode well in his first race of 2007, shaking off the rust to fight for the podium in Superbike.

The Super Seven is our very unscientific and totally subjective list of the top seven people, or groups of people, who stood out at the most recent race meeting.
