New Pavement At Laguna Seca
by dean adams
Thursday, June 14, 2007

The 2006 Laguna USGP will remain infamous for a couple of reasons, one, the incredibly high temps which hit the area and also because the new pavement failed almost immediatley. While Laguna Seca can't do much about the former, they have addressed the latter.

The old track surface was recently removed and new asphalt was laid in its place, according to Laguna's PR Director, Reece White. Two school sessions have already tried the new surface and everything looks good for it being ready for prime time come Laguna's July USGP.

While the '06 event wasn't as unholy bad as the 1989 event, it will be remembered as the one time many race veterans saw masses of people throwing up in garbage cans (from heat sickness) at the track.
