Yamaha's Eric Bostrom separated his shoulder in Utah

We spoke with Yamaha's Eric Bostrom on Sunday at Utah after he separated his shoulder in a Saturday crash. Bostrom didn't race but he did give some commentary over the track P.A. -- with his arm in a sling.

The injury happened to Bostrom's "good" shoulder, not the one injured in a 2003 crash at Laguna Seca that effectively ended his season that year. "I don't know if that's a bad thing or a good thing, but it is what it is," said Bostrom.

The injury is a disappointment for Bostrom and Yamaha. Eric was in second place when the crash occurred. Before the race, Eric said the R1 was the best it has been in the bike's first season back in Superbike.

Eric said he did not have the classic too-much-power highside. "I crashed off the throttle," said Bostrom. "People said, 'You're crash looked like Mat's,' but it was completely opposite. Mat crashed driving out of the corner and I crashed going into the turn. It was closed throttle."

Bostrom says he's going to try riding at the VIR test this week. He has four weeks to heal before Laguna Seca, a race he's won three times.
