According to Yamaha's Davide Brivio, both Yamaha's factory MotoGP teams will race on Michelin tires next season. Brivio made the announcement at last weekend's Estoril race.

With one of Michelin's favored test riders Colin Edwards lined up for a ride on the Tech 3 team next year, it seems logical that the squad would change over from the Dunlop tires the squad runs in 2007. With four riders on the same bikes and tires, there will be more data to be shared amongst the Yamaha assault on the World Championship.

Valentino Rossi has been critical of the Michelin tires this season, as have the Honda MotoGP riders. There were rumors of a possible switch to Bridgestones for Honda and/or Yamaha or even a spec tire in MotoGP, but that seems to have vanished with this announcement.

The current limit of 31 tires in a race weekend will be back for next year, too. Michelin had pushed for a 40 tire limit for 2008.
