Kawasaki Superbike rider Roger Lee Hayden is traveling by car to Louisville, Kentucky this afternoon to have a specialist at the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare hospital try to save the little finger on his left hand.
Injured in a crash at Barber last Saturday, Hayden was initially treated at the University of Alabama but sought additional treatment after spending the weekend in an Alabama hospital.
"I'm jacked up real bad," Hayden said this afternoon via cell phone. "I broke my pelvis in three spots, one near my tail bone. I also broke my lower left lumbar in three spots. My pinkie is ground down and dislocated so bad they can't pin it; they might have to do a bone graft.
"I guess the place that I'm going to, they have about five specialists in every area of the body and they've done some real amazing work," Hayden said.
"It's a bad deal. It wasn't my fault. I have no idea what he was thinking," Hayden said of the other rider involved.
