The 900-pound gorilla of a rumor in the paddock this weekend has been the one inferring that Suzuki officially informed Yoshimura earlier this week that they will not be supporting their team in 2009.
A Yoshimura exec on site here at Elkhart Lake stated that he hadn't been informed that had taken place.
Suzuki Executive VP Mel Harris was under the Yoshimura tent this afternoon. When told of the rumor, Harris said, "Rumors are rumors."
When pressed, Harris expressed frustration with the current set of 2009 rules and class structure, saying Suzuki would probably continue with racing "Liter Bike" if the rules collaborated on by the teams were adopted instead of the more Superstock-style rules which were recently released.
"Who knows," Harris said, inferring that Suzuki's involvement with many teams in the paddock will end. "Maybe Suzuki won't be racing next year."
