In just over twenty short days we'll be at at Laguna Seca raceway for the combined MotoGP and US Superbike round. As per Webmaster Tim's images shot last week the track looks to be in great shape and surrounding area in its normal condition, where you're not five minutes ride from some of the most beautiful scenery in the United States.
Laguna's ticket page is currently down but you can still order tickets for the event from their site via e-mail. Meanwhile Honda Riders Club members have access to VIP tickets.
Some insiders suggest that this will be the last joint AMA/MotoGP round at Laguna and that the 250s and 125 will be on board in 2009--if the DMG takeover happens.
Laguna Seca Raceway has been holding professional motorcycle races since the early 1970s--the first one won by legendary American racer Cal Rayborn--and a number of great riders have won there since, including Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Wayne Rainey, Eddie Lawson, Nick Hayden, Colin Edwards etc al.
Everyone seems to have a favorite Laguna Seca race memory, be it Freddie winning in the rain, Mamola and Roberts' mono-tire race in the early 1980s, Rainey dominating his USGPs or the infamous Mat versus Hodgson battle. Let's hear your favorite Laguna Seca race story and we'll publish as many as will fit.
