Britten: Part Man, Part Machine by jim mcdermott

Here's another treasure from YouTube - rare footage from the early 90's of the late John Britten and his sublime V1000. In this superb segment from Top Gear, Britten discusses his motivations for building the machine, and the bike is raced at Daytona and the Isle of Man. But the most poignant moments in the clip are those of Britten and his small crew, sorting out problems, hand assembling the bike, welding a cylinder head lining. Their journey from a small garage in Christchurch, New Zealand to victory at the 1995 BEARS Daytona race is legend.
Many people still have great affection for the late John Britten, and respect for what he accomplished with his V1000. This clip reminds us why.
