Oy vey!

The start to the AMA Pro American Superbike race was a total mess. Originally, Tommy Hayden jumped the start, but the lights never went out and that start was aborted, with another warm-up lap before the second start.

There was a first corner pile-up, and then the pace van came on the course but did not pick up the leaders. Eventually there was a red flag and a complete restart, minus several laps. The four jump starters must serve their penalties.

During the red flag period, Nick Hayden (yes, Nick!) could be seen yelling at AMA Pro officials in pitlane. A round of applause went up when it hit the video screens.

Throughout the media center, the international journalists just looked at the screen, amazed at the procession of events they were seeing take place before them. And laughing.
