Former MotoGP world champion Nick Hayden underwent carpal tunnel surgery today under the care of Dr Art Ting in Northern California. Ting, Hayden's longtime surgeon, performed the surgery on the former AMA Superbike champion's right wrist.
Carpal tunnel is a condition that many veteran riders are afflicted with; carpal tunnel syndrome essentially ended the GP career of triple world champion Freddie Spencer.
Currently a Marlboro Ducati MotoGP rider and teammate to Valentino Rossi, Hayden's hand "started going to sleep" at the Laguna Seca USGP and the dreaded 'dead fingers' returned periodically throughout the remainder of the season.
