It's interesting that in the last 72 hours an as yet unfinished track in Austin, Texas has gone from an being a semi-obscure future F1 track to now being part of a trifecta of three 2013 US MotoGP rounds.
It's expected that within the next week or so Dorna will announce that Austin Texas will host a round of the 2013 MotoGP world championship.
This addition will presumably make the USA a three event part of the MotoGP calendar.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has a long-term contract with Dorna for the Red Bull USGP. While the Indianapolis Motor Speedway signed a one-year contract extension with MotoGP in 2010, it's well known that Indy and MotoGP are negotiating a multi-year contract extension.
The Austin Texas facility will reportedly enjoy a $25 million infusion of cash from the state of Texas' Major Events Trust Fund--per year--to help smooth over the rough spots of running an international race circuit in Texas.
