James Ellison's second act in MotoGP lasted just one season, as the Brit has signed a last-minute deal to race in the British Superbike Championship in 2013 with Shaun Muir Racing.
Ellison raced in 2012 on a Claiming Rules Team Aprilia for Paul Bird Motorsport. But that British team dumped Ellison after he finished 16th in the season standings, fourth among the nine full-time CRT riders. So Ellison, who also raced in MotoGP from 2004-06, signed as the teammate to two-time Australian Superbike champion Josh Waters on SMR's Yamahas.
Racing with SMR is a homecoming of sorts for Ellison. He rode a Honda for the team in the BSB in 2008 and 2010.
