Three Claiming Rule Teams bikes tested this week at Sepang alongside a full fleet of factory machines, and that equation could be turned upside-down if Nick Hayden turns his Ducati GP12 loose during the CRT test scheduled for Feb. 20-22 at Jerez.
Hayden may turn laps in Spain because he essentially has missed the last two tests due to injury. He was unable to test in November at Valencia due to a broken wrist suffered in the final race of the season at that track, and he missed most of testing this week at Sepang due to shoulder and rib injuries suffered in a flat track training accident in late December.
"Nicky's condition means he 'missed' this test mainly," said Filippo Preziosi, Ducati Corse general manager. "He needs to practice more with this bike, and there are some new electronic things to test that it would be useful to have Nicky for. That would also help us to arrive back here (for the second Sepang test Feb. 28-March 1) with better electronics."
