The on-again, off-again saga of former MotoGP rider Anthony West trying to land a seat for 2012 has hit the on switch. Former Kawasaki factory rider West announced he has secured a ride with Supersonic Racing in the British Superbike Championship.
Aussie West will race a BMW alongside teammate Patric Muff.
West lost his Claiming Rules Team MotoGP ride with Speed Master in January when he couldn't raise budget. Then West thought he had a deal earlier this month with Swan Yamaha in BSB before he was bypassed for fellow World Superbike veteran Nori Haga.
"It has been a difficult couple of weeks for me," West said. "I obviously lost the ride in MotoGP, and before then I hadn't looked outside of that paddock. I looked at what John (Hopkins) had done by racing in BSB last year, and I thought it could be a good move for me. I don't know a lot of the tracks, but I have experience of learning fast from the different championships I have raced in before."
