Forbes Magazine put out their highest paid athlete list this week and Italian Valentino Rossi sits in position number twenty. Forbes states, with no sources listed, of course: "His contract to race for Ducati pays him $17 million annually." Forbes also states that Rossi made $13 million last year in "endorsements".
Best rumors coming from close to the Rossi inner circle are that he is now considering buying a satellite MotoGP team and will race for himself in 2013. Unless a stirring turnaround takes placeor Ducati's race chief Filippo Preziosi is forced outone finds it hard to believe that Rossi will do a third season on a Ducati MotoGP bike, meaning he may have to buy his way into a Honda or Yamaha MotoGP team.
If the Forbes numbers are accurate, Rossi could easily afford any satellite team in the GP paddock.
