Last week, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. President & CEO Takanobu Ito revealed that Honda is working on a modern day RC30-style motorcycle influenced by Honda's MotoGP racers.

In a speech in Japan, Ito said "Since its market introduction in 1987, the RC30(VFR750R) super sports bike has been loved by a large number of fans. With a goal to create a new history, passionate Honda engineers have gotten together and have begun development of a new super sports bike to which new technologies from MotoGP machines will be applied."

The Honda RC30 remains a true classic of modern motorcycling, and is on nearly everyone's dream bike list, even though life with an RC30 is not for those running low on passion.

A streetbike version of the RC213 V4 Honda MotoGP racer certainly has the potential to re-set what people expect from a hyper-streetbike. If Honda can also import just a sliver of the soul from the RC30 the machine would have the underpinning needed to become another modern classic.
