Silverstone isn't Brno, so Czech rider Karel Abraham will miss the British Grand Prix this weekend on his Aprilia CRT machine.
Abraham was forced to withdraw from the Indianapolis GP two weeks ago due to shoulder and heel injuries suffered in a crash during Friday practice. He mustered enough strength to compete in his home round last Sunday at Brno, with a gutsy ride to 19th.
But Abraham consulted with doctors this week, who advised him to skip Silverstone to let his shoulder heal. And unlike other injured riders, Abraham doesn't need to worry about other riders stealing his seat. His father owns and runs the team, which is rumored to be close to a deal to use a Honda "production" RC213V bike in the 2014 MotoGP season.
