Doohan, Organizers Decide To Postpone "A Weekend of Living Dangerously"

A Thai holiday is off for five-time 500cc World Champion Mick Doohan and stars from other worldwide motor racing series, as political unrest in Bangkok has forced the postponed of the Race of Champions all-star event scheduled for Dec. 14-15 in the capital city of Thailand.

Sounding like a scene out of '80s film The Year of Living Dangerously sections of Bangkok are now awash with overturned cars and garbage cans set aflame.

Organizers indicated the event will try to be contested on another date. But that's unlikely due to the battles in the streets between citizens and riot police and also due to the logistics involved in building a bespoke, figure-eight racetrack inside of a soccer stadium.

The RoC pits stars from many worldwide motorsports series in a variety of cars on a purpose-built asphalt track.
