In a move that can't be interpreted as anything but a giant shove towards the "Dornaization" of World Superbike, Dorna have not renewed the service contract of longtime WSBK Technical Director Steve Whitelock, nor his associate Fabio Fazi for 2014.

American Whitelock has been a force of nature in all things technical in WSBK for nearly two decades. Prior to that he was a senior exec at HRC, and before that he crew-chiefed for Yvon DuHamel and others in AMA racing. His longtime friend—and soft rival—is Cycle World's Kevin Cameron. The pair have been great friends for decades.

Whitelock was informed recently by Dorna that his contract would not be re-newed for 2014.

Whitlock's management style was to use his role and power to keep teams in the series, and to help them to remain competitive, and that made him a very respected man in the WSBK garages.
