A rough start to testing at Sepang devolved into agony Tuesday for Colin Edwards II as neck pain from an old whiplash injury limited Edwards to just 25 laps on his Forward Racing FTR-Kawasaki.
Edwards' best lap was 2:08.206, slowest among the 28 riders at the test. Edwards turned only one lap Sunday during the opening day of the test since his team still was building his bike in its garage, and rain limited his track time Monday.
The neck problem mystified Edwards. He first suffered the whiplash injury in a crash in 2009 at the Sachsenring.
"Last week it happened," Edwards said of the recurrence. "I did not crash; I did not do anything. But I suspect that I made a wrong move or something. At the moment, the neck is a major problem."
Edwards experienced constant tire chatter during the 25 laps he completed Tuesday.
