Tuesday, February 26, 2013

The newlywed wife of former Grand Prix and World Superbike racer Sean Emmett, was killed Feb. 19 after falling from a hotel window in Dubai, where she and Emmett were spending their honeymoon.

Few other details are known about the death of Abbie Emmett, 27, who recently married Sean Emmett in South Africa before the couple traveled to Dubai for their honeymoon.

Sean Emmett raced in 500cc World Championship events from 1993-96 for Shell-Harris Yamaha and the Lucky Strike Suzuki factory team--he stood in for an injured Kevin Schwantz. His best finish was ninth as a rookie in 1993 at Jerez on a Yamaha.

Brit Emmett then competed in World Superbike and British Superbike for the next 12 years, winning 19 BSB races.
