Former Yamaha team manager Davide Brivio confirmed on Twitter he has spoken to Suzuki about leading the manufacturer's rumored return to MotoGP in 2014 but also insisted he was one of many candidates under consideration for the job.
"Suzuki contacted me for MotoGP but I'm just talking and I'm not the only one," Brivio tweeted. "They have not decided yet about 2014 but only testing 2013."
European media reported late last week that Suzuki either had made a deal or was very close to a deal with Brivio to lead the team.
An ex-mechanic, Brivio was a key figure on Rossi's side of the garage during The Doctor's first tenure with Yamaha, leaving when Rossi jumped ship to Ducati after the 2010 season. Since then, Brivio has served as Rossi's personal manager and helped to oversee Rossi's merchandise operation.
